In which a member of Gen Y makes claims as to the irrelevance of libraries and is subsequently beaten within an inch of his life by militant librarians.
Read the blog for yourself.
My take: It's typical for folks in their late teens and early twenties to not be regular library users. Should the author find himself wishing to save money, wanting to do some serious research or become a parent with small or school-aged children, he'll eat his words. And should his life path not take him down any of those roads, then libraries will gladly take his tax dollars and use them for the benefit of the community.

ReplyDeleteYou and me both. I thought about including snarky responses to his ignorant descriptions of libraries (which in his world don't have computers) and librarians (whom he refers to as "secretaries"). He also got me wondering "What the heck is a 'Dewey decimal system station'?" We never learned about that in graduate school. I'm guessing he means "computer," as that's where the online catalog is housed.
