Must-Read YA Books of 2012?

Okay folks, panic is setting in.  It is November.  There are only two months left in 2012.  I've read 80 books thus far this year.  If I want to reach my goal of 100 books, that means I need to get reading.  I need to prioritize!  There are a few titles that are lingering on my TBR pile that I'm planning to include:

Goblin Secrets by William Alexander (National Book Award Finalist)
Out of Reach by Carrie Arcos (National Book Award Finalist)
The Diviners by Libba Bray (heard so many great things!)
Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore (read and loved Graceling and Fire, must finish trilogy)
Starry River of the Sky by Grace Lin (Newbery potential?)
Son by Lois Lowry (because, duh)
Cinder by Marissa Meyer (YALSA Teens Top 10)

But what else is a 2012 MUST READ for YA and/or tweens?  While I've read a bunch of good books this year, I know there are more out there that I haven't read.  Oh, and here are my favorites (thus far) for 2012:

Me, Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews
The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily M. Danforth
The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
Bomb: The Race to Build - and Steal - the World's Most Dangerous Weapon by Steve Sheinkin
Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein

  1. I loved The Diviners and Cinder as well as Code Name Verity. I still need to read Insurgent by Veronica Roth and hope to get to it before the end of the year.

  2. I thought Insurgent was better than Divergent, so you should definitely give it a whirl! It's always a nice surprise when the second book in a series is better than the first.
