Review: I Can't Keep My Own Secrets: Six-Word Memoirs by Teens Famous & Obscure

600 memoirs. 6 words each. Wow.

A simple premise: After the success of their international best-seller Not Quite What I Was Planning: Six-Word Memoirs by Writers Famous and Obscure, where the editors of Smith Magazine asked adults to submit their own six-word memoirs, they turned to teens 13-19 requesting submissions.

A stunning result: An impressive display of creativity, humor and honesty:

"I will be that cat lady." - Rolynda T.

"I am more than just gay." - Alex K.

"Hung myself. Sister found me. Alive." - Anna-Lise M.

"The exits were entrances in disguise." - Shannon B.

"Always the friend, never the girl." Kristy D.

"Stepped on. Stepped up. Stepped out." - Kelly Skallerud

I'm inspired to write my own six-word memoir, but feel so inadequate after reading such an impressive compilation. A wonderful concept, beautifully constructed and sure to be well received by many teens.
