Best of 2012: Sydney Taylor Book Award

Each year, the Association of Jewish Libraries gives the Sydney Taylor Book Award to recognize "outstanding books for children and teens that authentically portray the Jewish experience."  This year's awards, announced Monday, went to:

Hannah's Way by Linda Glaser and Adam Gustavson

His Name Was Raoul Wallenberg by Louise Borden

Intentions by Deborah Heiligman

A full list of award, honor and notable books can be found here.  I don't know how I missed Intentions.  I was in love with Heiligman's Charles and Emma.  I was sad that one of my favorites, Beyond Courage, wasn't a winner, but it did get an honor!

  1. I reviewed Intentions: http://bookpage.com/review/intentions/when-a-sanctuary-is-no-longer-safe. I was surprised that more folks weren't interested in it when I booktalked it, but it might have been overshadowed by things like The Book Thief.
